An Inscription on the founding of Ren’ai
Middle School
The newly-built Ren’ai Middle School has a spacious and neat campus and
tall teaching buildings. It was donated by Ms Zhang Aifang, a Japanese
Chinese, following the will of her late husband Mr Zhang Jiren. The
folks named the school by taking a character from each of the couple’s
given names to express their appreciation for Ms Zhang’s deep love for
her hometown and her cherished memory of her husband. What earnest zeal
for the motherland she had! How great the significance is!
Mr
Zhang Jiren (1921~1985), a native of Zhenhai, attended school in
Shanghai in his early years. Later, he traveled across the ocean to
Japan and exerted himself to his study and business. With great
ambitions, he was finally successful in his business and won a high
reputation. Living abroad, Mr Zhang always missed his native soil and
thought of rendering service for his motherland.
Ms
Zhang Aifang, a native of Zhenhai as well, received admirable paternal
instructions in her childhood. She has always been enthusiastic in
public welfare and given to doing charitable work. Since 1987, she has
made several donations to the motherland. She pays especially close
attention to the education and the training of talented persons in her
hometown. She has generously made the donation for the construction of
this school in order to realize the unfulfilled wish of her late
husband. On this grand occasion of the inauguration ceremony for the
newly-built school buildings, the tablet is hereby erected to glorify
the donator, for descendants’ eternal memory.
